Legends behind Holika Dahan
According to ancient Hindu mythology, the whole time period (also known as Yuga) could be divided into four Yuga namely Satya, Dwapar, Treta, and Kalyuga.
In Satya Yuga, there is a story for a King Hiranyakashyap who is a cruel ruler and certainly dislikes Lord Vishnu, the creator . However, his son Prahlad was somehow a Lord Vishnu worshiper and his follower.
When the King is told about this fact, he tries different methods to kill his own son. One of which includes the termination ask carried out by Holika. Holika has a boon of not getting any harm from fire when she would drape a Saree. Holika was approached to do her sibling's sentence, and having mystical forces that made her resistant to fire, she seized Prahlad and conveyed him in her lap on a lit campfire.
